Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy is another form of occupational therapy that integrates proprioceptive and vestibular input, which is conducted on a therapeutic horse. Therapists utilize the movements of the horse to provide carefully graded motor and sensory input. Building this firm foundation can help improve the neurological function and sensory processing of the student, which can be generalized to a wide range of daily activities. Hippotherapy also creates the opportunity to train the student’s trunk stability, focus, attention, and coordination of two sides of body.
